Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an integral component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which involves the insertion of thin, hair like needles into specific acupoints. Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) offers a unique perspective on the nature of health & illness that is different from that of the western perspective. It holds the human body in great reverence, respecting & promoting its endless capacity for rejuvenation & recovery. The symptoms are recognized as the bodies language. Through differentiation of signs & symptoms, a doctor of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine can analyze the root cause of the condition. By harmonizing the body, mind, & spirit, they are able to combat or prevent illness to improve the quality & duration of life.

There are many styles of acupuncture that are practiced around the world. Each share the points and meridians in common. However, techniques and equipment differ widely between practitioners. In China, most treatment focuses on multiple needle forms and electro-stimulation of needles. In Japan, acupuncture is an occupation for the blind. Techniques are based more on palpation diagnosis and single needle acupuncture as opposed to theoretical point groupings and multiple needles in Chinese and Korean techniques

How does Acupuncture work?

The classical Chinese explanation is that channels of energy run in regular patterns through the body and over its surface. These energy channels, called meridians, are like rivers flowing through the body to irrigate and nourish the tissues. An obstruction in the movement of these energy rivers is like a dam that backs up in others.

The meridians can be influenced by needling the acupuncture points; the acupuncture needles unblock the obstructions at the dams, and reestablish the regular flow through the meridians. Acupuncture treatments can therefore help the body's internal organs to correct imbalances in their digestion, absorption, and energy production activities, and in the circulation of their energy through the meridians.

The modern scientific explanation is that needling the acupuncture points stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals in the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These chemicals will either change the experience of pain, or they will trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones which influence the body's own internal regulating system.

The improved energy and biochemical balance produced by acupuncture results in stimulating the body's natural healing abilities, and in promoting physical and emotional well-being.

DLTA (Deep lymphatic drainage acupuncture)

Having been researched and developed in Japan by blind healers, DTLA practitioners emphasize information acquired by touch to determine needle placement. DTLA differs significantly from traditional Chinese forms of acupuncture in that one needle is placed at a time and gently manipulated until the tissue around it acquires a correct healthy tone after which the needle is removed and the next point addressed.

Esoteric acupuncture

Esoteric Acupuncture is a truly holistic form of acupuncture, working on healing imbalances on the physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual levels. All aspects of a person must be addressed for complete healing to occur. Esoteric Acupuncture works with the Chakra system.

Chinese Herbs

Herbs, like acupuncture, help to heal imbalances in the body by giving the body what it needs, or helping the body to rid itself of what it doesn’t need, or strengthening the internal organs. Herbs are safe and natural, and can be used with acupuncture or on their own.
