Abrielle Heck holds her Masters in Clinical Social Work from the University of Calgary, specializing in Infant, Early Childhood, School-aged and Adolescent Mental Health. She is proud to be a Registered Social Worker with the Alberta College of Social Workers. In both her professional life and her family life, Abrielle finds joy in being creative, playful, curious and getting outdoors.
Abrielle utilizes an Attachment Theory lens to walk alongside families in acknowledging their past and instilling hope for the future. She has extensive experience supporting children (5-18 years old) and their families, who are struggling with emotional regulation, anxiety, loss, trauma, transitions and enhancing parent-child connections. She draws on her knowledge and training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Circle of Security, and Play and Art therapy interventions.
Over the last 15 years Abrielle Heck has had the honour of collaborating with families to help facilitate a deeper understanding of their children’s needs and wellbeing. This starts with celebrating the diversity and uniqueness of each child, their family and their story. Abrielle is committed to being an ally and establishing a foundation of trust with families to nurture long term healing, growth and improved functioning.
