Andrea Rodgers is a Registered Psychologist who specializes in working with Children, Teens and their Families. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Honours – First Class), and a Master of Science in Educational Psychology with a specialization in School and Applied Child Psychology from the University of Calgary. She has training and experience providing psychoeducational assessments, developmental and behavioural interventions, counselling, and social skills interventions including certification in the Program for the Enrichment and Education of Relational Skills (PEERS), and counselling. She has pursued additional certifications and training in counselling modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Crisis Intervention. In addition to private practice, Andrea works as a School Psychologist where she provides Assessment, Intervention, and School Based Mental Health services for students with complex needs. She also has the privilege of working as a School Psychologist in a First Nations Community. Finally, she is the Clinical Coordinator of the PEERS program for teens with Autism Spectrum Disorder at the University of Calgary.
Andrea is passionate about working with children and teens who are experiencing learning, behavioural, and mental health challenges. Her training in school and child psychology has provided her with a strong understanding of child development and strategies to promote academic achievement, positive behaviour, and mental health. After working as a Case Coordinator in Domestic Violence at a Family Services agency, she developed a passion for helping individuals engage in healthy relationship behaviours. She supports children and teens who are experiencing interpersonal difficulties (e.g., unhealthy relationships, bullying, difficulties with peers, family conflict). Finally, Andrea has specialized training in working with Neurodiverse individuals (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).
Andrea’s areas of specialty include school concerns, emotional regulation, anxiety, counselling for neurodiverse individuals, social skills and friendship training, interpersonal relationships, positive behaviour support, and building coping skills.
